• Universal components apply to both strata/condo and detached homes.
• For strata residents: exterior shutoffs (building main water, gas meter, electrical main) are typically on common property and managed by the strata corporation — document who your contact is and where the shutoffs are located, even if you cannot operate them yourself.
• For detached homes: all shutoffs are owner-operated; the full Gate-4 preparedness sentence applies directly.
